Join the [n] route setting team!
We welcome you to join the [n] route setting team and work together to create high-quality climbing routes for climbers.
The [n] route setting team welcomes route setters from around the world to join. We hope that you:
Are an avid climber yourself, with a climbing ability of at least n5/V4 or above.
Have knowledge of the [n] grade system, the [n] venue, walls, holds, and an understanding of the target audience and their climbing needs.
Understand the use of various route setting tools.
Have route setting experience and are committed to continuously learning and upgrading your route setting skills.
Can work independently and complete at least one qualified route within one route setting day, based on the route requirements set by the chief route setter.
Throughout the process, you must participate in the team collaboration required for route setting.
The [n] route setting team also welcomes aspiring route setters without experience to join us. We require you to:
If you are an [n] employee, participate in at least three holds dismantling and cleaning sessions before the first route setting day, and attend at least 20 hours of route setting day daily work. During this process, you will learn about the [n] hold inventory and the use of various route setting tools.
Before the first route setting day, you must submit a formal application and have a one-on-one conversation with the chief route setter to ensure that you understand the [n] grade system, the [n] venue, walls, holds, and have an understanding of the target audience and their climbing needs.
In order to ensure venue safety and work efficiency, we do not allow observation or offer extra explanations during route setting days. If you need to learn about route setting knowledge, you can participate in our [n] route setting workshop. For more details, please consult the chief route setter, Day Leung.
The [n] route setting team is committed to becoming the most professional and internationally-minded route setting team in Hong Kong. Our route setters regularly visit climbing venues in Japan, Taiwan, South Korea, and other countries and regions to learn about route setting techniques. We also periodically collaborate and exchange experiences with IFSC route setters. We look forward to having you join us with the same level of expertise.
